Interconnection is a sculptural archway that welcomes you into the space of Calderwood. The intricate patterning comprises various local plants and animals, both past and present, as well as a graphic representation of ancient pathways across this region of land used by Indigenous Australians. The waterways that pass through this area informed the overall shape of the sculpture, with three ribbon-like arches that emerge from the ground and intertwine in an embracing motion. The sculpture endeavours to install a sense of belonging and a feeling of connection to place for all people that call Calderwood home.
